Chicken, minced 500 g 1000 g
Carrots 100 g 200 g
Silver beet 75 g 150 g
Spinach 70 g 140 g
Egg, fresh 1 egg 2 eggs
Sunflower Oil 1 tablespoon 2 tablespoons
Fish Oil or Cod Liver Oil ½ teaspoon 1 teaspoon
Dig-In Fresh 40 g 80 g
Yield (allowing for cooking losses) 700 g 1300 g

Directions

Vegetable Preparation

  • Finely chop the silver beet and spinach, and finely slice the carrots
  • Microwave the carrots for 2-4 minutes until soft but not spongy
  • Microwave the silver beet and spinach in a covered dish for 1 minute
  • Drain the spinach, silver beet and carrots

Chicken Preparation

  • Preheat frypan over medium heat, then add the sunflower oil 
  • Add the minced chicken (add a little extra oil if chicken sticks to pan)  
  • Pan fry until the meat is completely cooked
  • Add the egg and cook until egg is completely cooked

Final Blending

  • Mix the cooked vegetables into the cooked meat mixture with a wooden spoon
  • Add the Dig-In Fresh powder mix and stir it in
  • Add in the cod liver oil and mix thoroughly

Cooling and Storage

  • Into clean containers, spoon enough of the prepared food for each day for your pet. The amount of food your pet will require each day is calculated by their age, weight and life stage, and is listed on the attached “Feeding Sheet”.
  • It is important that the cooked food is cooled to below 4°C within 5 hours. This is best achieved by placing the containers in the freezer and thawing in the refrigerator when ready to use. 
  • The cooked food can be kept in the refrigerator (below 4°C) for up to 3 days, and frozen for up to 3 months.

 

 

Feeding Instructions

Thawing and Feeding

  • The food can be served straight from the refrigerator or warmed slightly in the microwave if your pet prefers it.
  • If the food is taken straight from the freezer, extend the microwave time so it is properly thawed.
  • After thawing, mix the food with a spoon to ensure that there are no cold or hot spots
  • Please test that the food is not too hot before feeding it to your pet. 

Feeding

  • Dig-In Fresh cooked recipes can be fed on its own or blended with a kibble or other pet food
